Concert (online): Claudia Schmidt and Sally Rogers & Howie Bursen

Old friends from the Midwest, ...now neighbors in Connecticut.

Join us via Zoom on an FSGW Sunday evening get‐together featuring a couple of old friends who grew up as Michiganders and who now both reside as neighbors in Northeastern Connecticut, and still get together to share music.

Claudia Schmidt and Sally Rogers have been weaving their voices, dulcimers, and guitars together for decades, creating an atmosphere of joy and musical lushness that audiences find so irresistible, they frequently join right in. Their soaring harmonies (‘blood harmony’ was how one fan described it), fascinating double dulcimer work, and the mix of 6‐ and 12‐string guitars, blend with a wide choice of songs. In one concert, they combine their originals, plus traditional songs, and choice compositions of contemporary songwriters. A concert by these two masters of their craft is an immensely satisfying and restorative experience. Time has only deepened and enriched the music they create together. As they grew up, Sally acquired a very musical husband, Howie Bursen, player of banjos and pianos (not to mention an expert wine-maker), and he will be joining Sally and Claudia. And Claudia Schmidt’s talented other half, Mark Thayer, could well be the engineer behind the computers and sound mixing.

Claudia just lost her father, so expect memories of him, especially through music and storytelling artistry. May we all be a comfort to her.

At 7:20 p.m., there will be a very brief FSGW members meeting for the purpose of accepting nominations for people willing to serve on the 2022-2023 FSGW Board. Only FSGW members may nominate or second a candidate for the election, but non-members are welcome to watch (or—better yet—join FSGW and have a say in the matter).

Register by clicking on the registration button, and we'll give you the Zoom link.

Cost to register: free; Suggested donation: $20 per listener. (If you feel generous and can afford it, a higher amount will help support the performers.) Feel free to not donate if you're just tuning in briefly for the nominations meeting only.

Donate to performers (link will work correctly starting a week before the concert)
