Singing Workshop - Windborne

  • 07 Sep 2019
  • 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

The vocal quartet Windborne will be leading a singing workshop on Saturday, Sept 7 at a private house in Takoma Park! Windborne are an internationally acclaimed vocal quartet who specialize in polyphonic music from around the world. At the moment, they're touring for their recent project Song on the Times: A Songbook and Album for Social Struggle which collects music from working class movements for people's rights in the US and UK over the past 400 years.

Participants of all abilities will learn singing styles from around the world as well as songs of social struggle from movements past and present. All songs will be taught by ear, no experience required (just enthusiasm and willingness to try new things! They educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the characteristics and stylistic elements of the different traditions in which they sing.

Donations (~$10) are encouraged to support the musicians, but no one will be turned away because they cannot pay. All are welcome!

Doors at 2:30, singing from 3:00-5:00 pm.

RSVP to program@fsgw.org for address details (even day-of!).
