Leigh Beamer (concert)

  • 11 Jan 2019
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • The Lyceum

After a dazzling guest appearance at a recent FSGW concer by Fink, Marxer & Gleaves, Leigh Beamer headlines her own concert kicking off the 2019 Alexandria After Work series. When Leigh released her debut CD, Reflections of Me, at age 15, Sam Gleaves wrote: "If there's one thing I'll never regret, it's showing Leigh Beamer her first guitar chords. The more I get to know Leigh, the clearer it becomes to me that she is blessed with a combination of talent and determination that few people her age can claim. Leigh is seriously committed to learning the old songs with a fresh approach and interpreting newer songs with all the conviction of years past. With songs ranging in age from forty to four hundred years old, this recording showcases Leigh's unique gift for making the songs of yesteryear appeal to the modern listener." She has lived up to Sam’s endorsement through a second CD, I’ll Be All Smiles Tonight, and several years of live performances.

Cosponsored by the Office of Historic Alexandria and FSGW in a series of concerts in the heart of Old Town Alexandria at 6 pm on the second Friday of each month. Take the free trolley that runs every 15 minutes from King Street Metro station! At the Lyceum, 201 S. Washington Street. $15 suggested donation; cash bar.
