Cat and the Fiddle (Joe & Cyd Shelby) have delighted crowds at the Maryland Renaissance Festival for years with their morris tunes, jigs, danse macabre and pub songs. They brought a lively, colorful, and kid-friendly take on early music to the 2018 Midwinter Festival and to countless morris ales and East Coast renaissance fairs. Abraham Joyner-Meyers & Darrow Sherman of Maelstrom are young fiddle prodigies who weave new sounds from old traditions, playing Irish, Quebecois, klezmer, and original tunes -- sometimes all at once. Cosponsored by the Office of Historic Alexandria and FSGW, this is the August concert in the “Alexandria After Work” concert series held in the heart of Old Town Alexandria at 6 pm on the second Friday of each month. Take the free trolley that runs every 15 minutes from King Street Metro station! At the Lyceum, 201 S. Washington Street. $15 suggested donation; cash bar.
