This local acoustic power trio started out as an all-female rock band, The Outskirts, and pulled the plug to focus “contemporary acoustic with foundations in traditional folk” music. Madeline Waters sings and plays cello and ukulele; Lainie Gray sings and plays mandolin and bass; Juliette Bell plays guitar. Their debut EP, Growing Roots, was recorded at Charlie Pilzer’s Tonal Park studios in Takoma Park and is due out this summer. At Janie Meneely’s house in Takoma Park. $15 donation suggested.
