Rachel Eddy and Kristian Herner (Special Event)

  • 10 Aug 2013
  • 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Ballroom Blum, Hyattsville, MD
Rachel Eddy learned to fiddle growing up just outside of Morgantown. She played for many years in local bands, picking up guitar and banjo as well. In 2008, Rachel moved to Nashville, TN, to make her solo record, "Hand on the Plow," backed by Tim O'Brien, Mark Schatz, and more.

In 2009 Rachel moved to Stockholm, Sweden. She's spent the last years touring Europe heavily with the traveling World Music festival Klangwelten, and the American all-girl oldtime supergroup, Uncle Earl. She also has a duet and a cd with Kristian Herner.

Kristian Herner hails from Denmark, and grew up learning to play American music on the banjo from his father. He is a member of the Swedish well-renowned oldtime band The Rockridge Brothers who have toured in the US several times, and played in over a dozen countries in Europe.

Together, Rachel and Kristian and their friends won the traditional band competition at Clifftop in 2011, the worlds largest and most prestigious oldtime festival.
