Takoma Park Folk Festival Stage at Cuddle-Up 4:00-4:45

Modern bluegrass band the AlgoRhythms play original music, covers of bluegrass favorites, and bluegrass-flavored takes on classic country and rock.


Barbershop Quartet

The ’6ft3 Quartet’ will be singing the a cappella close four-part harmony of barbershop music around the park.

Joke Swap—Share your favorite family-friendly jokes at this this swap hosted by Bill Mayhew, a fountain of good humor himself.


Celebration of Pete Kraemer & Joe Hickerson

Carpe Diem Arts Stage at Chautauqua 6:10-7:10

Blues-loving Pete Kraemer was a stage manager and emcee at the Festival as well as an occasional performer. Joe Hickerson, a mainstay of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington who often performed at the Festival, was a folklorist extraordinaire at the Library of Congress. Celebrate their lives and music with folks who knew them well.

Gayle Turner

Moses and the Exodus–Gayle Turner tells the sacred story of this journey of faith, courage, and the promise of freedom.



Halau Ho'omau I ka Wai Ola O Hawai'I

Spanish Ballroom 1:00-1:45

The musicians and dancers of the halau (hula school) bring to life ancient and contemporary Hawaiian hula with the music of the ukulele and ancient implements, led by kumu hula Manu Ikaika.



Humayun Khan

One of this generation’s most respected classical Afghan and North Indian musicians, Humayun Khan is known as a brilliant vocalist and harmonium player.



The Irish Inn Mates

The “Innmates” Tina Eck, Mitch Fanning, Jesse Winch, and Patrick Winch play Irish traditional music and songs at the Irish Inn at Glen Echo. Today, they are joined by dancers from the Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance.

Wishes from the Sea — Margaret Chatham fishes up not a genie in a bottle, but Scottish mermaids who can grant wishes in unexpected ways.

The Raven – Mark Cox presents Edgar Allen Poe’s haunting and mesmerizing masterpiece of Gothic literature.

Morris Dancers

Expect ritual dances from the Cotswold region of England to pop up in interesting places around the park, performed by the Foggy Bottom Morris Men and the Rock Creek Morris Women.



Mrs. Toretsky's Nightmare

Spanish Ballroom 6:15-7:00

The Eastern European Jewish dance and wedding music repertoire of Mrs. Toretsky's Nightmare includes bouncy freilachs, a Romanian hora, and a super fast serba.



Mutual Agreement

Bumper Car Pavilion 12:00-12:45

A cappella male Gospel group Mutual Agreement uses traditional and contemporary chord arrangements, while preserving a musical art form that has played an important part in their musical heritage.



Paraguayan Harp

Hector Muñoz (harp) and Ulises Rodriguez (guitar) present Paraguayan music, playing the traditional arrangements of the Guaraní people.



Poor Ellen Smith

From the Bulgarian word for nightingale, Slaveya is a women's a cappella group specializing in Eastern European songs reflecting the joys and sorrows of village life.


Soumya Chakraverty

Since the age of 12, Soumya Chakraverty has been mastering the sarod, a North Indian stringed instrument, and interpreting ragas passed down from generations of his musical family. The brilliant Abhay Kulkarni accompanies on tabla.

Urban Artistry

In this workshop, Urban Artistry tells the story of music and dance cultures from various African American communities and teaches dance movements such as locking, popping, breakin’, Memphis Jookin’, and hip hop. 



Washington Balalaika Society

Sunday Spanish Ballroom 4:00-4:45

Members of the community-based Washington Balalaika Society play a wide variety of music from around the world on authentic folk instruments.



Washington Toho Koto Society

Carpe Diem Arts Stage at Chautauqua 2:45-3:30

Founded in 1971 by director Kyoko Okamoto, the Washington Toho Koto Society performs Japanese traditional and classical music on six-foot long, 13-string instruments with a distinctive sound.
