Shape Note Singings

The Music We Share: We sing early American hymns, anthems, and fuguing tunes, in a capella four-part harmony. We sing from The Sacred Harp (1991) and The Shenandoah Harmony (2013). Loaner tunebooks are always available. Occasionally local singers bring copies of original shape-note compositions.

When: Monthly on fourth Sundays, at 5 pm, with a break for a potluck/covered dish supper at 6:30, with more singing after supper (until 8 pm). We don't meet in December.

Location: Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 201 4th St. SE, Washington, DC 20003    Directions to Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church
