English Country Dances

COVID-19 update:  And as you already know, in keeping with FSGW's COVID-19 response, in-person ECD events are cancelled until some time after the local emergency orders restricting large gatherings have been rescinded.  

But!   We are running online English Country Dances  !!!!!    The schedule is at the bottom of this page

General info on FSGW's Online English Country Dances

  • The frequency of the dances will depend on caller/Zoom host availability.
  • The dances will be called to recorded music, with the program adapted to one or two dancers.  
  • Zoom details and other particulars for the dances (including the names of the caller and Zoom host) will be sent via email to 
    • People on the FSGW's local ECD contact list
    • People who have requested to receive the Zoom details

Contact ecd@fsgw.org if you would like to:

  1. Be added to the local ECD contact list or check whether you are already on it, or
  2. Receive the e-blasts about these online dances, but do not want to be added to our local contact list

OUTLINE OF THE EVENING

  • 7:40pm - 8:00pm: ZOOM will open GREET AND CHAT.
  • 8:00pm - 10:00pm: Dance, with a short (c. 20 minutes) break in the middle during which we will use breakout rooms to make smaller groups for socializing.
  • 10:00pm - 10:30pm: The Zoom will stay open for additional socializing.  

These online dances are free, but if you would like to help support caller's effort, you may offer your donation online via Online ECD Caller Contribution or via check.

If you send a check, please make it out to FSGW, write "Online ECD XX/XX/2020 [date of dance]" in the memo line of the check, and send it to this address - Folklore Society of Greater Washington, P. O. Box 323, Cabin John, MD 20818.
